🔬 Standards & Methodology

Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 2026 · ThinkerLog — Big Questions. Simple Answers.

ThinkerLog is dedicated to making complex science accessible, captivating, and rigorous. We believe that anyone — regardless of academic background — can understand how the universe operates when science is communicated through first-principles reasoning and plain, vivid English. This document outlines how our editorial team researches, drafts, verifies, and maintains every explainer published on ThinkerLog.

1. Who Writes and Edits ThinkerLog Content

ThinkerLog is founded and led by Siddharth Purohit, an independent researcher and technology entrepreneur with a lifelong focus on astrophysics, molecular biology, and computational systems. Siddharth personally oversees the research, narrative development, and factual accuracy of all explainers.

Every article published on ThinkerLog adheres to these editorial rules:

  • Primary Scientific Literature First: We consult peer-reviewed research papers published in indexed scientific journals (e.g. Nature, Science, The Astrophysical Journal,Physical Review, Cell, PNAS) and technical mission publications from ISRO, NASA, and ESA.
  • Direct Mathematical Verification: Formulas, physical constants (such as Planck's constant $h$, the speed of light $c$, or gravitational acceleration $g$), and numerical metrics are cross-verified against CODATA and NIST reference databases.
  • First-Principles Clarity: We avoid hand-wavy analogies that mislead readers. We explain the actual physical mechanism — whether it is the fourth-power wavelength dependency of Rayleigh scattering or the codon triplet redundancy of ribosomal mRNA translation.

2. Research Methodology by Discipline

⚛️ Physics & Astronomy

Astrophysics, quantum mechanics, and cosmology articles are grounded in peer-reviewed observational data from space telescopes (JWST, Hubble, AstroSat) and terrestrial detectors (LIGO, EHT). Hypotheses (such as dark matter candidates or string theory) are clearly distinguished from empirically verified theories (such as general relativity or the Standard Model of particle physics).

🧬 Biology & Neuroscience

Molecular genetics, immunology, and neuroscience explainers reference indexed biomedical research from PubMed and the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). We never publish medical or health treatment advice; our focus is purely mechanistic — how cells, enzymes, neurons, and biological systems work.

🚀 ISRO & Space Exploration

Articles covering Indian space missions (Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, Aditya-L1, Gaganyaan) draw directly from official ISRO press kits, technical specifications from the Department of Space (DoS), and peer-reviewed mission science payload papers.

🌍 Earth Science & Chemistry

Geological, atmospheric, and chemical explainers utilize verified datasets from the Geological Survey of India (GSI), IPCC reports, NASA Earth Observatory, and IUPAC chemical standards.

3. Use of Modern Writing & Visual Tools

ThinkerLog leverages modern editorial and visualization tools to assist with data organization, diagram generation, and reading flow. However, all scientific claims, equations, and narrative explanations are strictly verified by a human editor. AI and visual tools are employed solely as drafting and illustration aids — the scientific responsibility and editorial voice belong solely to the human editorial team.

4. Editorial Independence

ThinkerLog maintains total editorial independence. We do not publish paid promotional articles, sponsored content masquerading as science news, or corporate press releases. If we recommend a book, educational tool, or course, it is chosen solely for its clarity and educational value.

5. Corrections & Scientific Updates

Science is a dynamic, self-correcting endeavor. If new empirical evidence refutes a previously accepted model, or if an error is identified in one of our explainers, we correct it promptly and transparently.

  • Reporting Errors: Readers are encouraged to report any factual inaccuracies via our Contact Page, citing the specific section and authoritative reference source.
  • Correction Notices: For substantive corrections, we add a clear timestamped correction note at the top or bottom of the explainer outlining what was revised.

6. Contact the Editorial Team

For editorial questions, topic suggestions, or academic correspondence, please reach out via our Contact Page or learn more on our About Page.
